A Gathering of Creative Incubators

Last September at Helsinki’s Cable Factory, around two hundred European actors and developers from the creative industries gathered for the European Creative Industries Summit. During that meeting was born the idea to gather together creative industry incubators from different countries, and only a couple of months later, 25.-26. November, the first network meeting was held in Helsinki.

This meeting was made possible by the cooperation of Creative Finland, Ministry of Education and Culture and Arts Promotion Centre Finland. The latter two coordinate the Northern Dimension Partnership of Culture project, which acted as the framework of the meeting.

The network meeting brought together representatives of creative business incubators and hubs in nine countries: Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Germany.

The network will continue to meet regularly and to look for funding to enable entrepreneur and advisor exchange between the incubators. The goal is to open new markets for the entrepreneurs emerging from these incubators, and to provide them the opportunity to use the premises of the other incubators in the network.

The cooperation is off to a great start and the head of Sweden’s Klump incubator, Martin Q Larsson, was already one of the coaches that took part in Creve’s virtual advice event in December.
